I do think he’s a racist, but most of his rhetoric is geared toward his base of homophobic, misogynistic, xenophobic, ageist, and anti-poor audience. If he dies at the wrong time, or in the wrong way, it may actually help his base/party. It would rile them up, conspiracies everywhere, and they would use that energy to get behind someone else with the same level of blind devotion. Or rather the people who seize control of the movement in the chaos will corral them towards someone new of their choosing. Someone smarter, better at speaking, and younger so he can be around for decades.
The best case scenario is he lives another decade falling apart, and takes his base and captured party down with him.

What I'll never understand, as someone from the outside looking is, is what answer could they possibly give for "the bad guys from Mexico" wanting to get into the real estate? They would have to follow laws, they would need to become an actual enterprise as opposed to a criminal organization, they would no longer be committing crime, and instead would be functioning, tax paying citizens, lest they lose their business.

The thing is the Trump-voting Latinos are typically fine with these messages, because they don't see it directed at their group but poorer Latinos that they also feel superior to. E.g., Cubans in Florida think its directed at Mexicans, Mexicans think its directed at Salvadorans, Salvadorans thinks its about the Venezuelans, etc. Or even if they think it's directed at people from their country of origin, it's directed at the poor people from there who they are now much richer than. Or if they actually vote, they are here legally, so don't empathize with the people who didn't come over legally (because the legal process was difficult and they feel the other group is cheating/line-cutting or some BS).
Other than Spanish language (which itself varies significantly and includes some Portuguese speakers from Brazil) and usually higher religiosity, the Latino community isn't one united group.
There was some jubilee video autosuggested to me today with the job to guess the secret MAGA Republican and it was fairly easy to figure out (as 36% of Latinos voted Trump in 2020).
EDIT: I should also clarify that most 64% of Latinos did not vote for Trump. But they are nowhere near a monolithic anti-Trump voting block, despite an anti-immigrant messaging and Latino-racism being a core component of MAGAism. There's a lot of social conservatism from religion (usually Catholic) on issues like LGBTQ or abortion and recent migrants may not support more migration, especially if its perceived they'll have any easier path than they had (or if they'll be more competition for jobs or what not).

This stems from a misleading claim. There was a apartment building that was overrun by a gang in Chicago. So the right wing narrative was they're all legal aliens and they force the families out of their homes. The apartment building was condemned that's why the families had to leave.
